Septic Tanks |
|
Lots of people living on Mull are not connected to mains sewers and use
septic tanks instead. Products such as bleach, toilet cleaners and
detergents can impair the efficiency of a septic tank and leave it
needing to be emptied regularly. Be choosy about what you flush
down your loo, the tank might never need to be emptied at all. All
the products have a minimum impact on aquatic life. |

No hazardous chemicals |
|
There's a useful webpage on Greenpeace's
website that tells you which household products contain harmful
chemicals. It even tells you what damage they cause to our bodies.
Luckily, Ecover products are on their non-hazardous list, but it's
surprising what you'll find on the other list! To see for

Animal Testing |
|
 No Ecover product has
ever been tested on animals. In fact, with the exception of
Camomile and Marigold washing up liquid (which contains milk whey), the
products are endorsed by the Vegan Society. |

Recycling
|
|
Ecover bottles have compatible lids and labels to minimise the energy
required for recycling. Eco-Logic offers a
refill service for many of the products (see
order form) so that the bottles can
be used up to 20 times before being recycled.
I would be interested to hear of any
innovative uses for Ecover bottles of any size. Please send in
photos of unusual uses for empty bottles. |
